Der Förderverein Balmoral 03 vergibt einen Kunstpreis an Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus dem europäischen Ausland von insgesamt 1.800 Euro verbunden mit einem sechswöchigen Aufenthalt im Künstlerhaus Schloß Balmoral, Bad Ems, Deutschland.

Der Aufenthalt findet im Herbst 2008 statt. Es steht ein eigenes Wohnatelier mit einfachem Internetanschluss im Künstlerhaus Schloß Balmoral zur Verfügung; es gelten die Hausregeln von Balmoral.
Das Preisgeld beträgt 1.500 €; Reisekrankenkasse und Reisekosten werden bis zu einem Betrag von 300 € erstattet. Materialkosten und Verpflegung trägt der/die Preisträger/in. Der Förderverein Balmoral 03 e.V. steht als Ansprechpartner zur Verfügung und unterstützt die Realisierung des geplanten Kunstwerks.

Gesucht werden Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus dem europäischen Ausland, die in Bad Ems innerhalb von sechs Wochen ein ortsbezogenes Kunstprojekt realisieren und anschließend präsentieren.

Dabei sind konzeptionelle Arbeiten ebenso erwünscht wie Projekte aus den Bereichen Malerei, Plastik, Fotografie oder Medienkunst. Voraussetzung für die Förderung ist eine abgeschlossene künstlerische Ausbildung (Studium). Die Altersgrenze ist 40 Jahre. Bewerber sollten deutsch, englisch oder französisch sprechen.

Das Projekt muss einen inhaltlichen oder formalen Bezug zu Bad Ems haben – zum Beispiel zur Historie der berühmten alten Kurstadt, zum landschaftlich reizvollen Umfeld des romantischen Lahntals, zur prächtigen Bäder- und Hotelarchitektur des 19. Jahrhunderts, zur Gegenwart einer Kleinstadt mit großer Geschichte, zu den berühmten Kurgästen wie Dostojewski, Gogol, Wagner, Rimski-Korsakow oder Delacroix, zum aktuellen und historischen Kontext von Bad Ems. Wichtig ist, dass das Projekt im öffentlichen Raum Bad Ems wirkt oder auf diesen Bezug nimmt. Außerdem sollte das Projekt eine Sonderedition für den Förderverein umfassen.

Schloss Balmoral Art Prize - Project Scholarship 2008

The Balmoral 03 e.V. funding association’s art prize is awarded to artists from North and Eastern Europe consisting of prize money in the amount of € 1,500 as well as a six-week stay at Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral, Bad Ems, Germany, for the realisation of a municipal project. The stay will take place in October - November 2007 and includes the presentation of the finished work. A private studio with Internet access will be available at Schloss Balmoral.. Furthermore, travel costs and insurance will be paid up to an amount of 300 Euro. The award winner has to bear the costs for artistic material and food. The Balmoral funding association 2003 will be available as contact and will help with the realisation of the planned works of art.

We are looking for:
Artists from North or Eastern Europe who would like to realise an art project at Bad Ems within six weeks. Conceptual works are just as welcome as projects from the areas of painting, sculpture and photography or media art. Applicants should speak German, English or French and should be under 40 years of age. The fellowship will be awarded provided that the artist has a completed artistic education (university degree) as well as a subsequent regular artistic occupation of three years at least.

The project must be related to Bad Ems in form and content – to the history of the famous old spa, the scenic countryside of the romantic Lahn valley, the magnificent 19th century bath and hotel architecture, a small town with a great history, the famous spa visitors such as Dostoyevsky, Gogol, Wagner, Rimsky-Korsakov or Delacroix, the present and past historic context of Bad Ems or to entirely different subjects – what matters is that the project has an impact on or relates to the Bad Ems area. Moreover, a special edition for the funding association should be included in the project.
